Week #9 (Feb. 25-Mar. 3)

Here is this week's schedule:

Sunday: Psalm 28-29
Monday: 1 Kings 14-16
Tuesday: 1 Kings 17-19
Wednesday: 1 Kings 20-22
Thursday: Proverbs 4-5
Friday: 1 Timothy
Saturday: 2 Kings 1-3

When we complete 1 Kings, we will read a few more chapters in the Proverbs, take a quick break by reading the Apostle Paul's first letter to Pastor Timothy, then continue on in Kings.

Let me just continue to encourage everyone (whether or not you were there last Wednesday) to NOT QUIT, no matter how far behind you may fall. Remember, our ultimate goal is not to race through the Bible in one year, but to be in our Bibles this year together as much as possible. Make time for God!

Hi guys!
I really enjoyed reading the story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal. It must have taken a ton of courage for him to stand up against all...what, 200 of them? He proved again that we serve the one TRUE God.

I have a question, is Israel now divided? I noticed as I was reading I Kings that there was a king of "Israel" and also another king. I know that Israel was divided at one point, is that now?

I also encourage everyone to not give up, I know how hard it is for me to keep up with play rehearsal and my piles of homework, but if I can do it, so can you! :) I'm praying for everyone too. Yeah, I'm missing youth group again...have a test tomorrow and gotta study.

Love y'all ;)

Melody,
Your answer is found in Saturday's Reading!!! 1Kings11:9 And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned away from the Lord, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice 10 and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods. But he did not keep what the Lord commanded. 11 Therefore the Lord said to Solomon, “Since this has been your practice and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes that I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you and will give it to your servant. 12 Yet for the sake of David your father I will not do it in your days, but I will tear it out of the hand of your son. 13 However, I will not tear away all the kingdom, but I will give one tribe to your son, for the sake of David my servant and for the sake of Jerusalem that I have chosen.” His tribe is Judah, remember? Solomon is Son of David from tribe of Judah. Then in 1Kings11:29-39 God chooses Jeroboam to be the king of the other half. Which is 10 tribes (except Levi - cuz Levites have no inheritance). It is not exactly half, just two parts. No that is not now. When Israel became a nation again in 1948 they started having a Prime Minister not a king. With help from my dad, love, Cathryn

Oh yeah, thanks Cathryn! Hey, Mandie had said on Sunday that we need to get together sometime and read together. I was thinking maybe Saturday...Mandie, if you read this I'll give you a call and you too Cathryn. Maybe Saturday after the Bible Study at Starbucks?
Everybody remember to pray for Pastor Jim and Pastor Curtis while they're in Russia :)
